Situated across from the Yucab Reef and close to the ancient Mayan ruin of El Cedral, San Francisco Beach has more than surf, sun and sand to
entertain its visitors. Itís an active beach, but not zany, just north of the much livelier Paradise Beach (the islandís newest) and Playa Mia Beach (the islandís craziest).
The very soft sand at San Francisco Beach feels plush and comfy under your feet, but makes walking a bit arduous. The sand takes a gradual decline as it eases into
the sea, making this a perfect beach for weak swimmers and children to enjoy the best of Cozumelís stunning beaches. The protective cove that curves in at the north end
of the beach is comfortably sheltered and with low wave action, another safe spot to paddle and swim.
Activities here include jet skiing, popular throughout Cozumel, but noisy, parasailing, and kayaking. Banana boat rides are a delightful side trip out into the beautiful
waters and reefs that teem with marine life.
The restaurant and bar located on the sand at San Francisco Beach features a large, colorful Amazonian parrot to entertain guests. While this may be an active beach area,
it never feels too crowded or loud.
