Part of an upscale enclave of finer homes and condominiums, Playa Guitarron Beach is a dichotomy: a natural wonder set amid the suburbs of a large metropolis.

The image of big-city, party-central Acapulco Beaches is not what you will find at Play Guitarron Beach. Set amid a collection of respectable homes, it is a pocket of
revered nature in the shadow of the zoo that can be Acapulco.
Located just south of the naval base, 4.3 miles (7 kilometers) from downtown, and close to the more active Playa Icacos Beach, this beach is set into a slight coastal indent (it could hardly
be called a cove) and is somewhat protected from the harshest currents. It feels more private than other beaches in the vicinity.
Unusual, fascinating rock formations encircle the beach, which has a narrow and the wider section, making for interesting exploring and a dramatic backdrop. With lush vegetation and a sense of
being somewhere in the wilds, Playa Guitarron Beach is for nature lovers, and those who just canít handle the busy world of the Acapulco Beaches situated closer to downtown.
Here you will find one of the better-valued hotels in the area, the Diamante; it prides itself on giving the same type of service and features as more costly places. Certainly, its location is
preferred for the sake of peace and quiet.
Although Playa Guitarron Beach is at the opposite side of Acapulco Bay from the harbor and docks, it is still a good place to watch boat traffic, large and small, go by in the distance. It feels
remote and thatís the whole idea.
