The English translation for Revolcadero is “tumbler, and this broad stretch of sandy beach could be tumbled on, if that is what takes your fancy. It’s much more low key than almost all of the other Acapulco Beaches, and is fairly close to the airport, making it a great spot to stay for a night or two on your way into or out of Acapulco proper.
Surround by palm groves, and lush vegetation, Playa Revolcadero Beach is the location of the prestigious Fairmont Acapulco Princess and Quintana Real hotels. The waves are lower here with little or no undertow, and this makes it one of the few Acapulco Beaches where it’s suitable to swim. Nonetheless, it is still mandatory to obey red flags when they are hoisted.
Tending to attract an upscale crowd of international tourists, the beach is lined with cabanas that serve lunch dinner and drinks right on the beach. There are numerous excellent restaurants in the hotels and along the beachfront area. This beach is home to many of the ritzy hotels in the region.
With a relatively low number of visitors, this peaceful swath of beach is ideal for sunning, relaxing and resting. For a pick-up, some surfing is done here, and there are horseback rides arranged that tour the length of the beach. Playa Revolcadero Beach is a respite from the normal mayhem of Acapulco Beaches.
